Surfers Paradise SLSC turns 100
COMMUNITY NEWS: The Surfers Paradise Surf Life Saving Club celebrated their 100 Year anniversary with a Paddle Out. While the weather and surf conditions didn’t allow for an actual paddle out, the Westpac Rescue Helicopter dazzled onlookers with an awesome display. The club members were treated to a BBQ, face painting, fairy floss and live music back in the clubhouse and out of the rain. Charity Duck Race
COMMUNITY CAUSES: All the ducks were lined up in a row to see who would be the first one to the finish line. It was a great community day and event organised by the Rotary club of Burleigh Heads and helped by many other community organisations and supporters. These included the very enthusiastic Kokoda Youth Challenge kids herding the ducks, Currumbin RSL hosting the event outside its premises, local councillors, and everyone that sponsored a duck. Spring Long Lunch
LIFESTYLE EVENT: The spring social calendar was kicked off in style with a vibrant and colourful celebration of community and fashion set amongst the beautiful surroundings of the JW Marriott Resort and Spa in Surfers Paradise. The lunch raised $10,700 for charity going to the Gold Coast Community Fund, while being treated to live entertainment and fashion by Sonia Stradiotto Couture. LOCAL ARTISTS. Today we met 3 members of the 7-piece band Cheap Fakes at a media call promoting Boulevard Sounds at Cavill in Surfers Paradise.
